This is where DHS has allowed border wall contractors to damage Big Bend National Park.  This site is off Solis Road alongside the Rio Grande in a remote area of the national park.  Their intent according to CBP is to build a vehicle barrier system through this intense geography.  What lies in front of this "vehice barrier system" is a road we use to access the rio grande and just beyond that road is the Rio Grande. The sequence of landmarks negates the need for a vehicle barrier system.  So what is this vehicle barrier system?  Is it preparation for a steel wall?

My work for the last 15 years records the geology of the Southwest particulary in Big Bend National Park as well as the entire watershed of the Rio Grande (not just in Texas).  It is devastating to make this work within the bounds of the park and instead of picking up a record of 130 million years of geology- I am picking up bulldozer/ excavator tread.   

As always, I followed No Trace Ethics within the National Park.  I did not use soil from the site for this piece as to preserve and protect the state of Big Bend National Park.
